If you are driving, start from Newcastle, County Down. Head southwest on the A2 towards the Mourne Mountains. After approximately 3 miles, turn onto the B180 at the sign for the Mourne Mountains. Continue following the B180 for about 2 miles until you reach the Mourne Mountain car park at the base of the mountains. From there, follow the well-marked trail signs towards Hare's Gap. The hike will take about 1-1.5 hours, depending on your pace.

If you are using public transport, take a bus from Belfast or other nearby towns to Newcastle. Services such as the 238 or 239 buses operate regularly from Belfast to Newcastle. Once you arrive in Newcastle, you can either walk to the Mourne Mountain car park (approximately 1 mile) or take a taxi for a short ride to the base of the Mourne Mountains. From the car park, follow the trail signs towards Hare's Gap, which takes around 1-1.5 hours to hike.
