Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Fair Mountain, the easiest route is to navigate to Oakwood, Co. Wicklow. From Dublin, take the N11 southbound towards Wexford. At junction 11, take the exit for the R750 towards Bray. Continue on the R750 until you reach the R115. Follow the R115 through the scenic areas, keeping an eye out for signs pointing towards Fair Mountain. There is limited parking available near the trailhead, so be sure to arrive early, especially on weekends. Note that there may be a small parking fee, so keep some coins handy.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Fair Mountain using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Dublin to Wicklow Town. You can catch the Bus Éireann route 133 or 145 from the city center. Once you arrive in Wicklow Town, transfer to the local bus service (such as route 184) that heads towards Oakwood. Ask the driver to drop you off at the closest stop to Fair Mountain. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to the trailhead. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance, as services can be infrequent, especially on weekends.

• Hiking

  For those already in the Wicklow Mountains, a popular approach is to hike to Fair Mountain from nearby areas. If you're in the Glendalough area, you can take the Wicklow Way trail. Follow the signs towards Fairy Castle, which is a well-known landmark. From there, head northeast on the trail until you reach Fair Mountain. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water, as this route can be challenging and takes approximately 2-3 hours depending on your pace.
