Car
If you are driving, set your GPS to 'J B Malone Car Park, Wicklow Way, Ballinastoe, Co. Wicklow'. From Dublin, take the M50 motorway and then the N11 south towards Wicklow. Exit onto the R755 towards Roundwood. Continue on the R755 until you reach the junction with the R759. Turn onto the R759 and follow it until you reach the car park. Parking is usually free, but check for any signs indicating fees.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus from Dublin to Wicklow Town (e.g., the 133 or 133X from Dublin Bus). From Wicklow Town, you can catch a local bus to Roundwood (Bus Éireann services). Once in Roundwood, you’ll need to walk approximately 5.5 km to reach J B Malone Car Park. This walk involves navigating through rural roads, so a map or navigation app is recommended. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary.
Walking
If you are already in another part of Wicklow Mountains, you can walk to Lough Tay Panorama. The most common route is to start from the J B Malone Car Park. Follow the Wicklow Way trail from the car park, which leads you toward the scenic views of Lough Tay. The hike is approximately 1.5 km and takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
