Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Ballasalla Railway Station. Exit the station and walk straight along the main road, which is the A5. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles. You will pass Ballasalla Village and eventually reach the junction near the Castletown Road. At this junction, turn left onto the Castletown Road (A5). Keep walking for another 0.5 miles, and you will see signs for Castletown. As you enter Castletown, look for Castle Street on your right. Turn onto Castle Street and walk a short distance. Castle Rushen will be on your left, easily identifiable by its impressive structure.

  • Bus

    From Ballasalla, head to the nearest bus stop located on the main road (A5). You can catch the bus service number 1 or 2 heading towards Castletown. The bus ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Get off at the 'Castletown' stop. Once you exit the bus, walk towards the direction of the street signs pointing to Castle Rushen. It is a short walk along Castle Street to reach your destination, located on your left.

  • Cycling

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can start from the center of Ballasalla and head south on the A5 road. Follow the same route as you would when walking, which is approximately 1.5 miles to the junction near Castletown Road, then turn left onto Castletown Road (A5). Continue cycling for about 0.5 miles until you reach Castle Street. Turn right onto Castle Street, and you will find Castle Rushen on your left-hand side. This route will take about 15-20 minutes depending on your cycling speed.
