If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Safed (Tzfat), which is approximately 15 kilometers away from Birya Fortress. Get on Route 89 from Safed, heading east. After about 5 kilometers, turn left onto Route 85. Continue on this road for another 5 kilometers, and then turn right onto the road leading to Birya Fortress. Follow the signs for Birya Forest, and after approximately 3 kilometers, you will arrive at the fortress. Note that parking is available near the entrance. Make sure to check if any parking fees apply.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Safed to the nearest village, Birya. Bus number 43 operates between Safed and Birya. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as the frequency may vary. Once you arrive in Birya, you may need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers uphill to reach Birya Fortress. The walk is pleasant and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. If you prefer, consider taking a taxi from the bus stop to the fortress for a small fee.
