Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the Tiberias city center, head towards the waterfront promenade (Tayelet). Walk along the promenade until you reach the Marina. From the Marina, continue straight on Derech Haatzmaut street. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will see a park on your left side. The Great Mosque is located just past this park at the intersection of Derech Haatzmaut and Hatzor Street. Look for the large dome and minaret, which are visible from a distance.
Public Transport (Bus)
From the Tiberias Central Bus Station, take bus number 5 or 6 towards the city center. Get off at the 'Tiberias Promenade' stop. From there, walk towards the promenade and follow the same directions as above, walking along the promenade to reach the mosque. The bus ride will take about 10-15 minutes, and then it’s a short 10-minute walk from the bus stop to the mosque.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a quicker option, you can also use a local taxi or rideshare service. Ask the driver to take you to 'The Great Mosque' in Tiberias. The ride will typically take around 5-10 minutes from the city center, depending on traffic. Make sure to show them the name in Hebrew or Arabic if possible: 'המסגד הגדול' or 'المسجد الكبير'.
