From Bologna city center, walk to the main bus station, Bologna Autostazione, which is located near Piazza XX Settembre. Once there, take a bus heading to Ferrara. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest departure times. Get off at the Ferrara bus station. From the bus station, it is about a 15-minute walk to Piazza Savonarola. Exit the bus station, turn left onto Via Giuseppe Mazzini, then continue straight until you reach Corso Ercole I d'Este. Turn right, and follow it until you reach Piazza Savonarola.

Head to Bologna Centrale train station, which is located at Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. Purchase a ticket for Ferrara at the ticket counter or automated machines. Trains to Ferrara depart frequently and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Ferrara train station, exit the station and walk straight onto Via della Libertà. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you reach Piazza Savonarola.
