Portofino Was Everything We Hoped For

We had seen so many photographs of Portofino before our cruise, so we were curious whether it would actually feel as special in person. It did. The harbor, colorful buildings, boats, and surrounding green hills created a beautiful setting. Before Portofino, we spent time in Santa Margherita Ligure, which gave us a completely different but equally enjoyable experience. We walked along the waterfront, visited several of the main sights, and had some time to simply sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Villa Durazzo was one of the places we particularly enjoyed. Once we reached Portofino, we were happy to have some free time to explore together. We did not want every minute planned, so being able to wander around, take photos, and stop for a drink made the experience feel more personal. The whole day was comfortable from beginning to end, and we never felt stressed about getting back to the cruise ship. For a couple wanting a scenic day with a good balance of guided sightseeing and personal time, this was a memorable part of our cruise.

A Beautiful Day on the Italian Riviera

We had such a lovely day exploring the Italian Riviera with our family. Santa Margherita Ligure was a wonderful first stop, and we really enjoyed walking along the waterfront and seeing the colorful buildings and historic sights around the town. Villa Durazzo was especially beautiful and gave us a nice break from the busier areas. The drive toward Portofino was scenic, and arriving there felt like stepping into a postcard. The harbor was even prettier in person, with the colorful houses, boats, and yachts all around the water. We also enjoyed seeing Castello Brown from below and having some time to wander around at our own pace. Traveling with family on a cruise can sometimes make you nervous about getting back to the ship on time, so having everything organized made the day much easier. The guide was friendly, informative, and easy to talk to. It was a relaxed day with a good mix of sightseeing and free time, and everyone in our family enjoyed it.
