Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to the A12 motorway. Depending on your starting point in Liguria, follow the directional signs for Santa Margherita Ligure. Once you reach the exit for Santa Margherita Ligure, take the SS1 road towards the town center. There are several parking areas in Santa Margherita Ligure; look for signs pointing towards parking lots such as Parcheggio Comunale or Parcheggio Villa Durazzo. From the parking area, it’s a short walk to the castle. Follow the signs towards Salita al Castello, a steep path that leads directly to the castle entrance. Please be aware that parking fees might apply and can vary based on the duration of your stay.

• Train and Walk

  For those using public transportation, take a train from your location to the Santa Margherita Ligure train station. This is a straightforward option with regular service from major cities like Genoa or La Spezia. Once you arrive at the Santa Margherita Ligure train station, exit the station and head towards the main road, Via Roma. Turn right and follow this road until you reach the seafront promenade. From there, continue walking along the promenade until you see signs leading up to Salita al Castello. The walk to the castle will take approximately 15-20 minutes and includes a moderate incline. Wear comfortable shoes as the path can be steep in places.

• Bus

  If you prefer to take a bus, check the local bus schedules for services that connect to Santa Margherita Ligure from nearby towns. Once you arrive at the Santa Margherita Ligure bus stop, you can either walk to the castle or take a local taxi for a short ride. The taxi fare will generally be inexpensive given the proximity to the town center. If you choose to walk, follow the directions mentioned in the previous section by heading towards Via Roma and then to Salita al Castello.
