Piazza del Salvatore, also known as Piazza della Pupporona or Piazza della Misericordia, is a delightful square located in the heart of Lucca, Italy. Situated close to Piazza San Michele, this square offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city streets. Its name, Piazza del Salvatore, is derived from the presence of the Church of San Salvatore, which dates back to the 12th century. The square is also commonly referred to as Piazza della Pupporona, a tribute to the neoclassical fountain that graces the space. This fountain, designed by Lorenzo Nottolini and constructed by Luigi Camolli between 1838 and 1840, features a statue of a Naiad that locals affectionately call 'pupporona'. On the west side of the piazza stands the Palazzo Cenami, a palace documented as belonging to Felice Cenami in 1676. At the corner of Via Calderia, a truncated medieval tower, known as Torre Del Veglio, rises. This tower was once owned by the Ronzini family and later by the Cerlotti-Del Veglio.
