Parco Sempione, established in 1888, is a 38.6-hectare (95-acre) park located in the historic center of Milan, near the Sforza Castle and the Arco della Pace. Designed by Emilio Alemagna, the park provides a green lung within the city, offering a blend of nature and architecture.
Originally, the area was used as a hunting ground by the Visconti family in the 14th century and later served as a military parade ground. Napoleon envisioned a grand plan for the area in the early 1800s, but it was eventually transformed into a public park in the late 19th century.
Today, Parco Sempione is home to several notable attractions, including the Sforza Castle, Arco della Pace, Arena Civica, Acquario Civico (Civic Aquarium), and Torre Branca. Public Transport
From Milano Centrale Station, take the M2 metro line towards Assago/Abbiategrasso and alight at Lanza, which is located just outside the park walls. Alternatively, take the M1 line and get off at Cadorna or Cairoli; both stops are a short walk from the park entrance. Tram lines 1, 2, 4, 12, 14, and 19 also stop near the park. A single metro/tram/bus ticket costs €2.20 and is valid for 90 minutes.
Walking
Parco Sempione is easily accessible on foot from many central Milan landmarks. From the Duomo, walk north towards the Sforza Castle; the park is directly behind the castle. From Corso Sempione, simply follow the road towards the Arco della Pace, which marks the park's northwest entrance. Walking from Milano Centrale Station takes approximately 37 minutes.

Taxis are readily available throughout Milan. A taxi from Milano Centrale Station to Parco Sempione typically costs between €8 and €10 and takes about 4 minutes.
