Monumental Cemetery: A Tranquil Oasis of Art and History

Getting There

• Metro

  To reach Monumental Cemetery from the city center, make your way to the nearest Metro station, Garibaldi FS (Line 2 - Green Line). Take the Metro towards Gessate or Cologno Nord and get off at the stop for Garibaldi FS, which is just 2 stops from the city center. Once you exit the station, follow the signs for the exit towards Via Melchiorre Gioia. After exiting, head northwest on Via Melchiorre Gioia until you reach Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale. The cemetery entrance will be on your right.

• Tram

  If you prefer to travel by tram, find the nearest tram stop serving Line 10 or Line 12. If you are near Piazza Duomo, you can take Tram Line 12 from the stop at Via Torino. Get off at the stop called Cimitero Monumentale. From there, it's a short walk to the entrance of the cemetery, which will be directly ahead as you walk towards Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale.

• Bus

  You can also take Bus Line 43 from the city center. Catch the bus at the stop near the Duomo (look for the stop labeled 'Duomo M1 M3'). Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at the stop called Cimitero Monumentale. After disembarking, walk towards the entrance of the cemetery located at Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale, which will be a short walk from the bus stop.

• Walking

  If you are staying nearby or feel like exploring, you can walk to Monumental Cemetery. From the city center, head north on Corso Garibaldi. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via Melchiorre Gioia. Turn left onto Via Melchiorre Gioia and walk until you reach Piazzale Cimitero Monumentale. The walk should take approximately 30 minutes, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful architecture and atmosphere of Milan.
