Discover more about Golf Club Lugano

Golf Club Lugano, established in 1923, presents a unique golfing experience in the heart of Ticino. The club was founded by Erwin von Riedemann as a token of love for his wife Josefa, a passionate golfer. The original 9-hole course, designed by Percy Dell, was expanded to 18 holes in 1970 by Donald Harradine. The course is renowned for its technical nature, featuring a PAR of 70 over 5575 meters. Golfers will find the course demanding due to the constant presence of water hazards and narrow fairways bordered by lush vegetation. The Magliasina river crosses or coasts the course eight times, adding to the challenge. The course alternates between long holes suited for powerful players and shorter holes that demand greater accuracy. The greens are well-protected by natural and artificial obstacles. Today, the course is a green lung in Magliaso, adorned with birch, oak, and pine trees, as well as rhododendrons, oleanders, and azaleas. Lucky visitors may spot squirrels and herons around the lakes of holes 10 and 11. The club also features the Lugano Golf Academy, offering instruction from top pros in Ticino.
