    Discover more about Marina Lobra

Nestled in a natural cove on the coast of the Sorrento Peninsula, Marina Lobra is an ancient fishing village that exudes Mediterranean charm. The village is known for its colorful houses, a small harbor filled with fishing boats, and the dominating presence of the Sanctuary of Lobra, which lends the village its name. Marina Lobra's history stretches back to Roman times when it was a favored summer retreat for wealthy patricians. Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, the son-in-law of Emperor Augustus, had a villa here. The village was a simple pier in the 16th and 17th centuries, during Massa Lubrense's commercial peak. Today, Marina Lobra offers visitors a peaceful escape with its clear waters and rocky coastline. While it may not have a traditional sandy beach, swimming is possible from the cliffs, and a solarium on Via Chiaia provides sunbathing. Boat trips depart from the harbor to Capri, the Amalfi Coast, and nearby coves, allowing visitors to explore the stunning coastline. Above the marina sits the 16th-century Santa Maria della Lobra church, built over a Roman church. The church features a 17th-century ceiling, cloisters, and an 18th-century majolica floor. The Rock of Vervece, a marine sanctuary just off the coast, features a submerged statue of the Madonnina del Vervece, honoring those lost at sea.
