Parco di Villa Fiorentino: A Green Oasis in Sorrento

Parco di Villa Fiorentino, affectionately known by locals as Villa Fazzoletti (Handkerchiefs Villa), is a captivating green space located on Corso Italia in the center of Sorrento. This park, once a private estate, offers visitors a serene escape with its lovely gardens, historical features, and cultural events. The villa was constructed in the 1930s by Antonino Fiorentino and Lucia Cuomo, renowned artisans known for their exquisite handkerchiefs. Inspired by the neo-colonial style of South America, they created a villa with spacious rooms intended to serve as both a residence and an exhibition space for their business. Their handkerchiefs were world-renowned and sought after by wealthy clients. In November 2016, the ancient Medieval Walls of Sorrento were discovered within the park. Today, Parco di Villa Fiorentino is a vibrant center for art and music, hosting art exhibitions, classical concerts, and other events throughout the year. The park also features a playground for children, citrus groves, rose gardens, camellia trees, and a Mediterranean herb garden. Archaeological finds dating back to the Greek era, including scale models of Villa of Pollius Felix and Terracotta Vases, are also on display.
