Salerno Seafront: A Coastal Promenade

The Salerno Seafront, or Lungomare di Salerno, is considered one of Italy's most beautiful promenades, offering a captivating blend of scenic beauty and vibrant local culture. The construction of the promenade began in 1920 as part of an urban planning initiative to transform the waterfront. During the 1920s, most of the buildings that now overlook it were constructed, including the Provincial Palace, the Chamber of Commerce, the Post and Telecommunications Palace, and the Palace of Justice. The first section of the promenade extended to the current Provincial Palace and was later extended in 1944 using volcanic ash mixed with rubble from the eruption of Vesuvius and aerial bombings.
