Capo Zafferano, a captivating coastal promontory, is situated between Bagheria and Palermo on the northern coast of Sicily. The promontory is an offshoot of the Monti di Palermo and has been declared a Site of Community Interest to preserve its natural habitat. Along the coast, caves have yielded remains of extinct elephant species and artifacts from the Upper Paleolithic era.Dominating the landscape is the Faro di Capo Zafferano, a historic lighthouse built in 1884. The lighthouse served as a military garrison during the World Wars and is now an automated signal for maritime navigation. While the road to the lighthouse is narrow and winding, the panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea are worth the journey.
