Car
If you're driving from the heart of Romagna, take the A14 motorway towards Bologna. After approximately 60 kilometers, merge onto the A1 motorway heading south towards Florence. Continue on the A1 for about 70 kilometers, then take the exit for Firenze Nord. Follow signs for Firenze Centro, leading you into the city center. Once in Florence, follow signs to Ponte Vecchio, which is located near the historic center. Parking is limited, so consider using a parking garage such as Garage Ponte Vecchio, which is a short walk from the bridge.
Train
To reach Ponte Vecchio using public transportation, start by traveling to the nearest train station in Romagna, such as Forlì or Cesena. Purchase a ticket for a train heading to Florence (Firenze Santa Maria Novella station). The journey takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours depending on the train service. Once you arrive at Firenze Santa Maria Novella, exit the station and walk towards the central square. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Ponte Vecchio. Follow Via Panzani to Piazza del Duomo, then head towards Via Calzaiuoli, which will lead you directly to the bridge.
Bus
If you prefer traveling by bus, check for regional bus services that connect various towns in Romagna to Florence. Companies like FlixBus often operate routes from cities such as Ravenna or Rimini to Florence. The bus journey can take around 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive at the main bus terminal in Florence, you can walk to Ponte Vecchio, which is approximately a 20-minute walk through the city center. Follow signs to the historic district; you can also ask locals for directions if needed.
