If you are driving from anywhere in Romagna, use the A14 motorway towards Bologna. Take the exit for Bologna Casalecchio and merge onto the Tangenziale (Bologna ring road). Follow signs for Centro and exit at 'Bologna Centro'. Continue on Via Stalingrado, then turn onto Via Indipendenza, which leads directly into the city center. Once you reach Piazza XX Settembre, you will find Porta Galliera at the north side of the square. Be aware that parking in this area may require payment in the form of a parking meter, typically costing around €1.50 per hour.

Train

If you are traveling by train, head to the nearest train station in Romagna and take a train to Bologna Centrale. Trains are frequent and the journey typically takes around 30-60 minutes depending on your starting point. Once you arrive at Bologna Centrale, exit the station and head towards Via Indipendenza. Follow this street until you reach Piazza XX Settembre. Porta Galliera will be at the north side of the square. There is no cost for transfer within Bologna after arriving at the train station.
