Walking
From the center of San Gimignano, head towards the main square, Piazza della Cisterna. Once you reach the square, locate the Via San Giovanni road on the left side of the square. Walk straight down Via San Giovanni until you reach the intersection with Via Vecchia. Turn right onto Via Vecchia. Continue along this road until you come to the base of the hills that lead out of San Gimignano. Follow the path that leads you through the countryside, keeping an eye on the signs for Volterra. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the bus stop for Volterra. Take the bus going to Volterra (check the schedule for times). Once you arrive in Volterra, exit the bus and walk towards Piazza Caduti nei Lager Nazisti, where the Roman Theatre is located. It should be a short walk of about 10 minutes.

Begin at the central bus station in San Gimignano, located near the main square, Piazza della Cisterna. From there, take a bus to Volterra. Tickets can be purchased at the station or on the bus. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Volterra, alight at the main bus terminal. From the terminal, walk towards Piazza Caduti nei Lager Nazisti, which is about a 10-minute walk. The Roman Theatre is located in this square.
