Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of San Gimignano, head towards Piazza della Cisterna. Once you reach the piazza, take the main street (Via San Giovanni) heading south. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you reach the bus station, where you can catch a bus heading to Florence. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand.

• Bus

  Take the bus from San Gimignano to Florence. The ride will take approximately 1 hour. Get off at the bus terminal in Florence, which is near the city center. Once you exit the bus terminal, head towards Via Santa Maria Novella and walk towards Piazza della Repubblica. From there, follow signs to the historic center until you reach Piazza dei Ciompi.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider taking a taxi from San Gimignano to Florence. This option will be faster, taking around 45 minutes. Ensure you agree on the fare before starting your journey or ask the driver to use the meter.

• Train

  While there is no direct train from San Gimignano to Florence, you can take a bus to Poggibonsi train station. From San Gimignano, walk to the bus stop and take a bus to Poggibonsi, which takes about 30 minutes. Once at Poggibonsi, catch a train to Florence. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. When you arrive at Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence, you can walk to Piazza dei Ciompi.
