Getting There

• Public Transport

  To reach Sečovlje/Sicciole Saltpans Nature Park from Trieste, start by heading to the Trieste Central Station (Stazione Centrale di Trieste). From there, take a train to the town of Portorož, Slovenia. Upon arrival at Portorož, exit the train station and look for the bus stop nearby. Take the local bus towards Sečovlje; the bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus stop in Sečovlje, walk towards the direction of the saltpans, which is about a 10-minute walk. The park is located at Parecag 290.

• Taxi or Ride-sharing

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi or use a ride-sharing app from anywhere in Trieste. Simply request a ride to 'Parecag 290, 6333 Sečovlje'. The drive typically takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the driver knows your destination before you start your journey.

  For the adventurous, you can walk from the center of Trieste to Sečovlje, although it is a long trek of about 30 km. Start by walking towards the coastal area, following the signs to Muggia. Once you reach Muggia, continue along the coastal path towards Slovenia, eventually leading you to Sečovlje. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as it will take several hours to walk this distance.
