Travel Guide to Guinigi Tower

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, take the A11 motorway towards Lucca. Exit at Lucca Est and follow the signs for the city center (Centro). Once in the city, look for parking options. The closest parking facilities are 'Parcheggio Mazzini' and 'Parcheggio San Concordio'. From either parking lot, it is a short 10-15 minute walk to Guinigi Tower. Head towards Via Guinigi, where the tower is located at number 29.

• Train

  If you are traveling by train, take a train to Lucca from major cities like Florence or Pisa. The Lucca train station is approximately a 20-minute walk from Guinigi Tower. Upon exiting the station, head southeast on Viale Giosuè Carducci, then turn left onto Via San Marco. Continue straight until you reach the city walls, then enter through the Porta San Pietro. Once inside the walls, follow signs towards the city center and then to Via Guinigi.

• Bus

  Several bus lines connect Lucca with nearby towns. If you are within Tuscany, check the local bus schedules for routes to Lucca. The main bus station is located near the train station. From the bus station, it is about a 20-minute walk to Guinigi Tower. Follow the same route as described for arriving by train, heading towards the city center and Via Guinigi.

• Walking

  Once you are in Lucca, and if you find yourself near the city center, you can easily walk to Guinigi Tower. The tower is located at Via Guinigi, 29. Look for the tower's distinctive tree-covered top, which is visible from several parts of the city. It is a popular landmark, so locals can assist you if you need directions.

• Bicycle

  Lucca is a bike-friendly city with many bike rental shops. If you choose to rent a bicycle, you can explore the city at your own pace. Find a bike rental shop in the city center, then ride along the city walls and through the narrow streets to reach Guinigi Tower. There are bike racks available near the tower for parking.
