Car
If you are driving, start from Aosta, the capital of Valle d'Aosta. Take the A5 motorway towards Courmayeur and continue on the A5 for approximately 40 kilometers. Take the exit for Pré-Saint-Didier and follow the signs for the SS26 road towards Morgex and then to La Salle. From La Salle, follow the signs to Courmayeur and then to the Mont Blanc Tunnel. After crossing into Switzerland, you will head towards Zermatt. Since Zermatt is a car-free village, you will need to park your car in Täsch, which is about 5 kilometers from Zermatt. Once at Täsch, take the shuttle train to Zermatt, which takes about 12 minutes. Upon arrival in Zermatt, follow the signs to Grünsee, which is a scenic area accessible from the town.
Public Transportation
To reach Grünsee using public transportation, start from Aosta and take a regional train towards Pré-Saint-Didier. From Pré-Saint-Didier, transfer to a train towards Courmayeur. Continue to the train station in Courmayeur and look for the shuttle bus that goes to the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Once at the tunnel, you will take a train from there to Zermatt. After arriving in Zermatt, you will find signs directing you to Grünsee. It is about a 30-minute walk from the center of Zermatt to Grünsee, so be prepared for a scenic hike.
