Piazzale Roma: The Gateway to Venice

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the central area of Venice, head towards the Grand Canal. Look for signs pointing to 'Piazzale Roma.' As you approach the canal, you will see beautiful views. Walk along the canal until you reach the 'Ferrovia' (train station) area. From there, continue straight towards the large square area of Piazzale Roma. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the main tourist areas like Piazza San Marco.

• Water Bus (Vaporetto)

  If you are further away from Piazzale Roma, you can take the Vaporetto (water bus). Find the nearest Vaporetto stop. Depending on your location, take line 1 or line 2 heading towards 'Ferrovia.' Once you arrive at the 'Ferrovia' stop, exit the Vaporetto and walk straight towards Piazzale Roma, which is a 5-minute walk. Keep an eye out for directional signs.

• Taxi Boat

  For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi boat. Locate the nearest taxi boat stand, usually found at major canals. Inform the taxi boat driver that you want to go to 'Piazzale Roma.' The ride will give you a unique view of Venice from the water and take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.

• Public Transport

  If you are coming from the mainland, take the train to Santa Lucia Station. Once you arrive, exit the station and follow the signs to 'Piazzale Roma.' It’s a short walk of about 10 minutes along the Grand Canal, heading towards the large square. You will pass several shops and cafes along the way.
