Getting There

  • Subway

    From Hakata Station, take the Kuko Line (Airport Line) towards Nakasu-Kawabata. Get off at the next stop, Tenjin Station. Transfer to the Nishitetsu Line at Tenjin Station and take the train towards Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin). Get off at the next stop, Gion Station.

    From Gion Station, exit the station and head east on Gionmachi Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the main road (Chuo Dori). Turn left onto Chuo Dori and walk straight for about 10 minutes. You will see Tochoji Temple on your right at 2-4 Gokushomachi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka.

    From Hakata Station, take the Nishitetsu Bus No. 100 towards Gokushomachi. Get off at the Gokushomachi stop. From there, Tochoji Temple is just a short 5-minute walk. Head east on Gokushomachi Street, and you will see the temple entrance.
