Great day out

Great day! Driver, Hiro, arrived on time and was very helpful in explaining the layout for the day as well as sights and history as we drive. His English was very good and he was easy to understand. We visited 3 towns throughout the day. The first a historic village, which was interesting and has a hilltop view of the village - be prepared to walk uphill or take the shuttle. Very scenic location but does get crowded. To visit inside some the history homes, there are small extra charges for admission. The second town was beautiful with a canal running through it full of over 1000 carp. Small historic shops including a candle making store owned by a 7th generation candle maker. Great restaurants for lunch including Hida beef specialties - perhaps the best steak we’ve ever eaten! Third stop was Takayama, historic old town. Very busy with tourists and lots of stores and restaurants. For us, we would have preferred to skip this location and spend more time at the previous two stops. Overall a great day - lots of driving and walking but wonderful to see other historic areas away from Kanazawa.
