Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the heart of Arashiyama, head towards the Togetsukyo Bridge. Walk across the bridge, enjoying the beautiful views of the river and mountains. Once you reach the other side, continue straight for about 10 minutes, following the signs towards Tenryu-ji. You will pass some shops and cafes along the way, which are great for a quick snack or souvenir shopping. Tenryu-ji is located at Sagatenryuji Susukinobabacho 68, and you will see the entrance gate ahead on your left.

  • Public Transport (Train)

    From the Arashiyama Station, take the Keifuku Electric Railway (Randen) and travel one stop to the Saga Station. This journey will take about 5 minutes. After exiting the train, follow the signs for Tenryu-ji. It is a short 10-15 minute walk from the station. The fare for the train is approximately 210 yen.

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    If you prefer to take the bus, you can board the Kyoto City Bus at the Arashiyama Station. Take the number 28 or 11 bus and get off at the Tenryu-ji Mae bus stop. The ride will take about 10 minutes, and the fare is around 230 yen. From the bus stop, Tenryu-ji is just a short 5-minute walk. Follow the signs to the temple entrance.
