Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards the Nara city center. From Nara Park, follow signs toward the Naramachi area. Once you reach Naramachi, turn onto Chuincho. Gango-ji is located at Chuincho 11. There is parking available nearby, but it may require a small fee, typically around 500 yen for a few hours.
Public Transportation - Bus
For public transportation, take the Nara Kotsu bus service from Nara Station. Board the bus heading to 'Gango-ji' (the bus stop is usually listed in English). The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Gango-ji bus stop, it is a short 5-minute walk to the temple. Make sure to check the bus schedule as the frequency may vary.
Walking
If you are already in the Naramachi area, Gango-ji is within walking distance. From Naramachi, head south on Chuincho Street. The temple is located at Chuincho 11, and you will see signs directing you to the entrance. The walk takes about 10-15 minutes, and it’s a pleasant stroll through the historical district.
