Getting There

  • Public Transportation - Train

    If you are starting from Nikko Station, take the Tobu Nikko Line towards Shimo-Imaichi. Purchase a one-way ticket at the station for approximately 300 yen. Stay on the train for about 10 minutes and get off at the 'Toshogu Shrine' station. From there, it is a short 15-minute walk to the World Heritage Monument located at Sannai, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1431. Follow the signs for Toshogu Shrine as you walk.

  • Public Transportation - Bus

    From Nikko Station, you can also take the bus. Board the bus at the bus terminal outside the station. Look for the bus that goes to 'Toshogu Shrine' (approximately 400 yen for a one-way ticket). The bus ride will take about 15 minutes. Get off at the Toshogu Shrine stop, and the World Heritage Monument is within walking distance from the bus stop, just follow the signs or use your map app.
