Discover more about Tsūtenkaku

Tsutenkaku Tower is more than just an observation deck; it's a symbol of Osaka's resilience and modernization. The original tower, constructed in 1912, was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and served as the centerpiece of the Shinsekai entertainment district. It even had a cable car connecting it to Luna Park. Damaged by fire in 1943, it was dismantled during World War II. The current tower, rebuilt in 1956 by Tachu Naito (who also designed Tokyo Tower), stands at 103 meters. Visitors can ascend to the observation deck for stunning views of Osaka, spot the Billiken statue (said to bring good luck), and explore exhibits on the tower's history. Don't miss the Tower Slider, a thrilling ride from the third floor to the basement. At night, the tower is illuminated with colorful LED lights that change with the seasons, making it a beacon in the Osaka skyline. Shinsekai, the district surrounding Tsutenkaku, is a vibrant area known for its retro atmosphere, delicious street food (like kushikatsu), and colorful billboards. Exploring Shinsekai is like stepping back in time, offering a unique glimpse into Osaka's past. Whether you're enjoying the views, trying local delicacies, or soaking in the retro atmosphere, Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai offer an unforgettable Osaka experience.
