Mt. Fuji 5th Station General Administration Center
Your gateway to Mount Fuji: Information, resources, and stunning views await at this essential visitor center on the Yoshida Trail.
The Mt. Fuji 5th Station General Administration Center is more than just a visitor center; it's an essential starting point for anyone looking to experience the majesty of Mount Fuji. Situated at 5617 Kamiyoshida, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, this center provides a range of services and facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. As the most popular and developed of the four 5th stations on Mount Fuji, the General Administration Center is easily accessible by public transportation from Tokyo. It marks the halfway point of the Yoshida Trail, the most frequented path to the summit. Even for those not planning to climb, the 5th Station offers breathtaking views of the Fuji Five Lakes area and surrounding landscapes. An observation point near the Komitake Shrine provides unobstructed views of Fujiyoshida City and Lake Yamanaka. The center itself is equipped with restrooms and snack shops, allowing visitors to prepare for their journey. Here, you can purchase hiking sticks, snacks, water, and oxygen, though prices increase at higher elevations. The center also provides maps, guides, and safety briefings, with multilingual staff available to assist international visitors. During the climbing season (July 1 to September 10), private vehicle access to the 5th Station is restricted. Instead, visitors must park at designated lots at the base of the mountain and take shuttle buses or taxis. Recent regulations also include a daily climber limit and potential gate closures during certain hours. A climbing fee of ¥4,000 is now required to access the mountain beyond the 5th Station. Despite these restrictions, the Mt. Fuji 5th Station General Administration Center remains a must-visit destination for experiencing the iconic Mount Fuji.
