Car
If you are using a car, start from the center of Wadi Musa. Head south on the main road (Wadi Musa Street) and follow the signs towards Petra. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the entrance to Petra. Park your car in the designated parking area. Note that there is an entrance fee to Petra, typically around 50 Jordanian Dinars for a one-day ticket. From the entrance, you can either walk to The Treasury or take a horse or carriage for an additional fee. The walk to The Treasury takes approximately 30-45 minutes through the Siq, a narrow gorge that leads to this iconic site.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from major cities like Amman or Aqaba to Wadi Musa. Once in Wadi Musa, you can find local taxis or tour operators offering rides to the Petra entrance. The local taxi fare should be around 5-10 Jordanian Dinars. After arriving at the Petra entrance, you will still need to pay the entrance fee (about 50 Jordanian Dinars) and then proceed to walk or use a horse or carriage to reach The Treasury, which is about a 30-45 minute journey through the Siq.
