Getting There

  • Public Transport

    If you are starting from downtown Wichita, head to the nearest bus stop located at Douglas and Broadway. Catch the Wichita Transit bus route #14, which heads north. Stay on the bus for about 20-25 minutes, and get off at the stop near 29th St N and Woodlawn Blvd. From there, walk east on 29th St N for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Great Plains Nature Center, located at 6232 East 29th St N. The entrance will be on your left.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing programs in Wichita. Start from downtown and head east on Douglas Ave until you reach the intersection with Woodlawn Blvd. Turn north onto Woodlawn Blvd and continue until you reach 29th St N. Turn left (west) on 29th St N, and the Great Plains Nature Center will be on your right after about a mile. Make sure to follow bike lanes where available for a safer ride.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Wichita State University campus, you can walk to the Great Plains Nature Center. Exit the campus and head north on Hillside St. Continue until you reach 29th St N. Turn right (east) and walk along 29th St N for about 1.5 miles. The Great Plains Nature Center will be on your left at 6232 East 29th St N. This route is very pleasant, with plenty of local scenery to enjoy along the way.
