Getting There

• Car

Continue on KY-160 for about 5 miles, then turn left onto Kentenia State Forest Road. Follow this road until you reach the parking area at Kentenia State Forest. Please note that there may be a small parking fee, so keep some cash handy.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to Harlan, KY, which is the closest major town. From Harlan, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Putney. Once in Putney, follow the directions for car travelers to Kentenia State Forest as mentioned above. Keep in mind that taxi services may vary in availability and cost, so it's advisable to check in advance.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, cycling to Kentenia State Forest is an option. If you are in Harlan or other surrounding areas, take KY-80 and KY-160 towards Putney.
