Car
If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto I-65 S from your location in Western Coal Fields. Follow I-65 S to exit 53 for KY-255 S toward Mammoth Cave. Continue on KY-255 S for about 10 miles until you reach the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center. From there, take the Unnamed Road that leads toward Dixon Cave. There is no formal signage for Dixon Cave, but you will find a small trail leading to the cave entrance. Note that there may be limited parking available, so plan accordingly.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a Greyhound bus or local transit service to the nearest city with bus services to Mammoth Cave, which is Cave City, KY. From Cave City, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center. Once at the Visitor Center, follow the same directions as those traveling by car: take the Unnamed Road leading to Dixon Cave. Be sure to check local schedules as public transport may have limited service.
Walking
If you happen to be staying near Mammoth Cave and prefer to walk, you can start from the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center. It's approximately a 1-mile hike from the Visitor Center to Dixon Cave. Follow the trails that lead from the Visitor Center, keeping an eye out for natural paths that lead towards the cave area. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear as the terrain can be uneven and may require some navigation.
