Car
To reach Mount Satima in Aberdare National Park by car, start by driving along the main road towards the Chania Gate. Continue past the gate and follow the signs towards the Chania River Lodge. From the lodge, take the road towards Shamata Gate. Once you reach Shamata Gate, drive towards the summit of Mount Satima, following the signs for the hiking trail. Be prepared for rough and unpaved roads, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for this journey.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation to get to Mount Satima, you can take a matatu (shared minibus) from Nyeri town to the Chania Gate. From there, you can hire a local guide or arrange for a taxi to take you to Shamata Gate. Once at Shamata Gate, you can start the hike towards the summit of Mount Satima. Make sure to check the schedule for the matatus, as they may not run frequently to this remote area.
