Getting there

Car

If you are driving, start from Eldoret town and take the Eldoret-Kapsowar Road (A104). Continue on this road for approximately 35 km until you reach the town of Kapsowar. From Kapsowar, take the road towards Nosuguro, which will lead you closer to Devils Island. As you approach Nosuguro, follow the signs for Devils Island, which is located near the coordinates H3RJ+MJJ. Once you reach the lake, you may need to park your car and walk to the island, depending on water levels.

Public Transportation

To reach Devils Island via public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Eldoret to Kapsowar. The fare is approximately 150 KES and the journey takes around 1.5 hours. Once in Kapsowar, you can find another matatu heading towards Nosuguro (fare approximately 100 KES). Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to Devils Island. From there, you may need to walk to the lake, which is approximately 3 km away. Be prepared for a short hike depending on the terrain.

Walking

If you are already in Nosuguro, you can reach Devils Island by walking. Depending on your starting point in Nosuguro, head towards the lake following local paths or asking for directions to H3RJ+MJJ. The walk to the lake can take about 30-45 minutes. It’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated, especially on warm days.
