Start from the park headquarters in Kapkota. Drive along the main park road, following the signs towards the Lwanda region. After approximately 12 kilometers, you will reach a junction; take the left turn towards Lwanda rocks. Continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach the parking area near Lwanda rocks. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain, as some sections may be bumpy.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, your journey will begin in the nearest town, Mbale. From Mbale, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) to the Mount Elgon National Park entrance. Once at the park entrance, you will need to hire a local guide or a taxi to take you to Lwanda rocks. The guide will be familiar with the trails and can help navigate the park's routes. It is advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand, which can range from 500 to 1500 Kenyan Shillings depending on the distance and the vehicle used.
