    From Kitui Plains, start your journey by heading west towards the A109 road. Once you reach the A109, turn south and continue driving until you reach the junction at Emali. At Emali, you will take the B3 road towards Amboseli. This road will lead you directly to the park entrance. Note that the total driving distance is approximately 130 kilometers and may take around 3 to 4 hours depending on road conditions. Be sure to check the road conditions beforehand and fuel up in Emali as there are limited fuel stations near the park.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Amboseli National Park using public transport, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Kitui to Emali. The matatus leave regularly throughout the day, and the fare is around KES 200-300. Upon arrival in Emali, look for matatus heading to Amboseli. The fare for the next leg will be approximately KES 500. This second leg of the journey may take around 1 to 2 hours. Ensure to confirm with the matatu driver about drop-off points near the park entrance.

  • Combination of Car and Public Transport

    If you prefer a mix of both, you can drive from Kitui Plains to Emali as mentioned earlier. After reaching Emali, you can park your vehicle at a safe location and take a matatu to Amboseli.
