Getting There

Private Car

Start your journey from Lodwar, the nearest significant town. Head south on the A1 road towards Kakuma. After approximately 60 kilometers, take the exit towards the B2 road heading east to Turkwel. Continue on the B2 for about 80 kilometers until you reach the intersection near Turkwel. From there, follow the signs leading to Suguta Valley. The final stretch is approximately 30 kilometers of unpaved road, so be prepared for rough terrain. Use GPS coordinates 2.241646, 36.693694 to navigate directly to Suguta Valley.
Public Transportation

From Lodwar, take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Kakuma. The cost should be around 200 KES. Once you arrive in Kakuma, you will need to hire a private vehicle or arrange for a local taxi to take you to Turkwel. This journey will cost approximately 1500-3000 KES depending on negotiation. Once in Turkwel, you can find local drivers that specialize in trips to Suguta Valley. Expect to pay around 2000-4000 KES for this final leg, which is about 30 kilometers on an unpaved road.
Bike Rental

If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike in Lodwar. The rental cost is typically around 500 KES per day. Cycle south on the A1 road to Kakuma, and then follow the B2 road to Turkwel. This journey will be physically demanding, and it is recommended to travel in a group for safety. After reaching Turkwel, you will still need to navigate the remaining 30 kilometers to Suguta Valley on rough terrain. It's crucial to have a good map or GPS to assist with navigation.
