From the main town of Lamu, head towards the Shela village. It's about a 15-20 minute walk along the beach or the main road, depending on your preference. Once you reach Shela, continue towards the shoreline, where you will start to see signs for Ras Kitao. The beach is a beautiful route, but be cautious of the tide and the sandy terrain.
Tuk-Tuk
You can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Lamu town to Shela. The fare is typically around 200-300 Kenyan Shillings (KES) for a one-way trip. Inform the driver you want to go to Ras Kitao in Shela. The ride will take approximately 10 minutes. Once you arrive in Shela, walk towards the beach to find Ras Kitao.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Lamu town; rentals usually cost about 500 KES for a full day. Cycle towards Shela, following the path along the coast. This route takes around 20-30 minutes by bicycle. Once you reach Shela, continue towards the beach to locate Ras Kitao.
Boat
If you prefer a scenic route, you can take a boat from Lamu town to Shela. The boat fare is typically around 100-200 KES per person. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes. Upon arrival at Shela, disembark and walk a short distance towards the beach to reach Ras Kitao.
