Getting There
Bicycle
If you're in Mombasa, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops. Start your journey from the city center and head towards Moi Avenue. Continue onto Mombasa-Malindi Highway (A14) and ride straight until you reach the entrance of Kiembeni Road. Turn left onto Kiembeni Road and follow the road until you see the signs for Nguuni Nature Sanctuary on your right. The ride is approximately 5 km and should take around 20-30 minutes.
Public Bus (Matatu)
From Mombasa city center, head to the bus station and catch a matatu heading to Mtwapa or Nyali. Ensure to inform the conductor that you want to get off at Kiembeni Road. The matatu will drop you off close to the junction of Kiembeni Road. From there, walk down Kiembeni Road for about 500 meters; you will find Nguuni Nature Sanctuary on your left. The entire journey should take about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.
Walking
If you are staying close to the beach area, you can walk to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary. Start from the beach and head towards Nyali Bridge. Cross the bridge and continue straight until you reach the intersection for Kiembeni Road. Turn right onto Kiembeni Road and walk for about 1.5 km. You will see the sanctuary on your left. This walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from your location in Mombasa. Inform the driver you want to go to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary off Kiembeni Road. The ride should take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic, and the fare should range between 300-500 KES.
