Getting There

• Public Bus (Matatu)

  From the city center of Mombasa, head to the nearest matatu stage (usually at Moi Avenue or near the Mombasa Bus Station). Look for a matatu heading towards Mshimoni or Kiembeni. The fare is typically around 50-100 KSh. Once you board the matatu, inform the driver that you are going to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary. The matatu will drop you off at the nearest point to the sanctuary, which is off Kiembeni Road.

• Bicycle Rental

  If you prefer a more active option, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Mombasa. Start your journey from the city center and head towards Kiembeni Road. Follow the road signs that direct you to Kiembeni. The distance is about 10 km, and you will enjoy the local scenery along the way. Once you reach Kiembeni Road, look for signs that guide you to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary.

• Walking

  For those who are adventurous and enjoy walking, you can start from the Mombasa city center. Walk towards Moi Avenue and continue until you reach the Kiembeni area. This route is approximately 8-10 km and will take over two hours. Make sure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes. Once you reach Kiembeni Road, you can ask locals for directions to Nguuni Nature Sanctuary.

• Taxi

  You can also use a taxi or ride-sharing app for a more comfortable journey. From anywhere in Mombasa, request a ride to 'Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, off Kiembeni Road.' The fare may vary, but expect to pay around 300-600 KSh depending on your starting location. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they know the location as it is slightly off the main road.
