Bicycle
If you're in the central area of Mombasa, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Head towards Moi Avenue and continue straight until you reach the Nyali Bridge. Cross the bridge, and you will enter Mombasa Island. Keep cycling straight to explore the island's attractions.
Walking
From the Old Port of Mombasa, head north along the waterfront. Follow the signs for the Nyali Bridge. Walk towards the bridge, and as you cross, you will find yourself on Mombasa Island. This walk provides scenic views of the harbor.
Public Bus (Matatu)
Find a matatu station near your location in Mombasa. Look for matatus heading towards Mombasa Island. Once you're on board, inform the conductor of your destination (you can say 'Mombasa Island'). The journey will take about 15-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Get off when you see signs for Mombasa Island or the Nyali Bridge.
Tuk-Tuk
Hail a tuk-tuk from your location in Mombasa. Tell the driver you want to go to Mombasa Island or the Nyali Bridge. The ride should take around 10-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off at the entrance to Mombasa Island.
Ferry
If you are on the mainland near the ferry terminal, head to the Likoni Ferry. Purchase a ticket (it's usually very affordable) and board the ferry to Mombasa Island. The ferry ride takes about 10 minutes. Once you disembark, you can walk or take a tuk-tuk to your desired location on the island.
