Getting There

• Car

The final stretch will require driving up a steep incline, so exercise caution and ensure your vehicle is capable of handling the terrain.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Phanoi Viewpoint using public transportation, take a bus from Pakse to Savannakhet. Buses frequently depart from the main bus station, and the trip takes approximately 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Savannakhet, you will need to transfer to a local minivan or songthaew heading to Muang Ngoy. Ensure you confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near PM8H+257. The local transport fare should cost around 30,000 to 50,000 LAK. From the drop-off point, you may need to walk approximately 15-20 minutes uphill to reach the viewpoint.

• Motorbike Rental

  For a more adventurous option, consider renting a motorbike in Pakse. After renting, take Route 13 north towards Savannakhet, then follow Route 9 to Muang Ngoy. The ride offers scenic views but can be challenging, especially on the winding roads. Once you arrive in Muang Ngoy, navigate towards PM8H+257. Be prepared for a steep ride up to the viewpoint. Rental costs can vary but expect to pay around 100,000 LAK per day plus fuel.

• Walking

  If you are staying in Muang Ngoy and wish to explore on foot, you can walk to the Phanoi Viewpoint. Start from the center of Muang Ngoy and head towards the unnamed road identified by the coordinates PM8H+257. The hike is steep in sections, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water. The walk can take about 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.
