Discover more about Krimuldas Muiža

Krimulda Manor (Krimuldas Muiža in Latvian) is a stunning example of Neoclassical architecture, nestled on the edge of the Gauja River valley in Sigulda. Built in the mid-19th century, the manor offers a serene escape into Latvia's aristocratic past. The estate's multi-layered environment creates a unique charm, blending the elegance of late Classicism with the 19th-century wooden architecture of what was once known as "Vidzeme's Switzerland". Originally established as a feudal estate in 1566, Krimulda Manor evolved into a significant economic center, even surpassing Sigulda in size at one point. The estate changed hands until 1817 when it was acquired by Count Johann Georg von Lieven, who believed the site was historically connected to the ancient Livonian leader Kaupo, an ancestor of the Lieven family. The Lieven family constructed a residence befitting their status and cultivated a romantic landscape park around it. Today, visitors can explore the meticulously preserved manor buildings, including the manager's house, stable-carriage house, granary, kiln, and the Swiss House with its unique wood carvings. The Swiss House is a rare example of a preserved guesthouse-type building, characteristic of the Sigulda, Krimulda, and Turaida region in the 19th century. The manor also boasts a park, perfect for leisurely walks and enjoying the scenic views of the Gauja valley. Krimulda Manor offers a variety of activities, including guided tours, wine tasting, and spa treatments.
