Discover more about Nahal Snir Nature Preserve

Nahal Snir Nature Preserve, also known as the Hasbani River Nature Reserve, is situated in the far north of the Upper Galilee region of Israel. The preserve's main feature is the Snir Stream (Hasbani River), the longest tributary of the Jordan River, ensuring a constant flow of water throughout the year. The preserve offers a variety of activities and facilities, including picnic areas, artificial swimming pools, and an observation point. Visitors can explore several well-established looping trails, including a short, wheelchair-accessible trail that leads to a waterfall and shallow wading pool. The intermediate trail is more challenging, requiring climbing over boulders and tree roots. The long route features strong water rapids and quiet resting places. Getting wet is likely, especially on the longer trails. The area is rich in flora and fauna, with a riverside forest of plane trees and travertine walls. The preserve also features the Park Chushim, a sensory park designed for young children. The east bank of the creek features a yellowish rock called travertine, formed by slow and prolonged water flow. Historically, the Snir Stream's water was diverted to the Dan Stream as a safety measure following sabotage to an oil pipeline that leaked crude oil into the Dan Stream. Today, the stream and surrounding nature preserve offer a refreshing and beautiful escape.
