Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the main area of Leptis Magna, head towards the central archaeological site. Begin at the Arch of Septimius Severus, which is a prominent landmark. Walk straight ahead from the arch, following the main path that leads deeper into the ancient ruins. Continue straight until you reach the Roman theater, which is situated on the left side of the path. From the theater, keep walking until you see the large ruins of the Basilica on your right. The Old Basilica is recognizable by its remains of the large columns and the overall rectangular shape of the structure.

    If you find yourself near the Forum, start walking towards the southern end of the Forum area. As you exit the Forum, head towards the Temple of Venus, which can be seen in the distance. Once you reach the Temple of Venus, turn left and follow the path that leads you past various smaller ruins. Continue along this pathway until you arrive at the Old Basilica, which should now be on your left, marked by its impressive remnants.
