    Discover more about Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein

The Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, located in the heart of Vaduz, is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The museum's collection represents a significant portion of the state's art collection, making it an integral part of Liechtenstein's public image. The building, designed by Swiss architects Meinrad Morger, Heinrich Degelo, and Christian Kerez, was completed in November 2000. Its distinctive architecture, a 'black box' of tinted concrete and black basalt stone, incorporates river pebbles in its exterior, linking it to the Rhine Valley landscape. The museum's collection spans from the 19th century to the present, with a focus on sculptures and installations. It features works by Arte Povera artists and intentionally avoids limitations of geography, style or specific media. The museum also emphasizes themes of particular significance in modern and contemporary art. In 2015, the museum expanded with the addition of the Hilti Art Foundation exhibition building, showcasing classical modernism and contemporary art. This addition provides visitors with an opportunity to experience 130 years of art history. The museum has six exhibition rooms arranged around two staircases, allowing diagonal views throughout the building. The interior is designed as a 'White Cube,' maximizing space for art display. The Kunstmuseum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions and guided tours.
