Kunstraum Engländerbau: A Showcase of Contemporary Art

Kunstraum Engländerbau is located on the second floor of the Engländerbau in the pedestrian zone of Vaduz. The building itself has a rich history, initially constructed in 1933/1934 as the headquarters for a British lottery company and was the first steel-frame structure in Liechtenstein. The building later housed a dental factory and a radio station. In 1944, the State of Liechtenstein acquired the building and began using it as an exhibition space for the Princely Art Collection. Since 2002, following the relocation of the Liechtenstein State Art Collection to the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, the Engländerbau has served as a dedicated space for contemporary art exhibitions. The Kunstraum Engländerbau has become an important platform for the Liechtenstein art scene, gaining recognition in neighboring countries. The space hosts four to five solo or group exhibitions each year, accompanied by a diverse program of events. The Kunstraum aims to make contemporary art accessible to the public, promoting artistic creativity and exchange. It is not a gallery in the traditional sense but rather a meeting place for the community to engage with art. The exhibitions often explore various dimensions of space and life in mountainous regions.
